What this site stores in your browser and what you can do about it.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser when you visit it. It can be used, for example, to remember a choice you made, to measure how the site is used or to show advertising that fits your interests better.

The same applies to other technologies that store information in your browser or read what is already there, even if they are not called cookies. Everything explained here applies to them too.

Cookies differ in who sets them and how long they last. First-party cookies are set by this website; third-party cookies are set by another company whose services are used on it. Session cookies disappear when you close the browser, and persistent ones stay for a set period.

This policy explains what this website uses, what for, and how you can decide.

Cookies this site uses

The website's fonts, images and own code are served from the site itself. The third-party tools explained below are loaded from each company's servers, and only if you accept them: until you make your choice in the cookie notice, nothing beyond what is strictly necessary is loaded.

Only one cookie can be stored without your permission, because it is needed to respect your decision:

  • ess_consentimiento, first-party, lasting 13 months. It stores which categories you accepted or rejected and when. It is only created once you make a choice in the cookie notice.

If you accept any category, Google Tag Manager, from Google, is loaded. It is the tool that starts the others, and only the ones you have accepted. It stores no cookies of its own but, like any service loaded from outside, Google receives your browser's request with its technical data, such as the IP address.

These are the tools, each in its category:

  • Analytics · Google Analytics, from Google. It tells us how many people visit the website, which pages they view, for how long, where they come from and on what type of device. It gives your browser a random identifier and uses your IP address to work out your approximate location, without storing it. We have switched off its Google Signals feature.
  • Advertising · Meta pixel, from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which pages you visit and only three actions: that you open a sport's page, that you send an information request — without the details you type into the form: Meta does not receive your name, email or phone number — and that you tap the WhatsApp button. This lets us measure how well our ads work. Accepting this category also allows us, once we switch it on, to show you ESS ads on Facebook and Instagram after your visit; it is not active today, and the privacy policy explains how it will work. If you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram in that browser, Meta may link this information to your account. Meta is a joint controller of this data with us, as explained in the privacy policy.
  • Request follow-up · HubSpot, the tool we use to manage requests. It records which pages you visit and, if you submit the form, links those visits to your request, so that whoever helps you knows what you were interested in.

If you accept the Request follow-up category and you reached the website through a campaign link, the website also stores, for the duration of the visit, which campaign you came from, so that it can be sent with your request if you fill it in. It is not a cookie: it is stored in the browser tab and deleted when you close it. If you do not accept that category, it is not stored, even if you accept the others.

The table below details each tool's cookies, the domain where they are stored, who they belong to and how long they last. Meta's, Google's and HubSpot's are only stored if you accept their category.

If you previously visited another European School of Sports website that uses HubSpot tracking, the hubspotutk cookie may already exist in your browser. This website only reads it if you accept the Request follow-up category.

How to accept, reject or change your choice

The first time you visit you will see a notice with three equally accessible options: accept all, reject all or configure. Until you choose, nothing beyond what is strictly necessary will be activated.

Under "Configure" you can accept or reject each category separately:

  • Necessary, which cannot be switched off, because without them the site cannot work or remember your choice.
  • Analytics, to understand how the site is used and improve it: Google Analytics.
  • Advertising, to measure how well our ads work and, once we switch it on, to show you ESS ads on Facebook and Instagram after your visit: the Meta pixel.
  • Request follow-up, to link your visits with your information request: HubSpot, the tool we use to manage requests.

Rejecting does not restrict access to any content on the site.

You can change your mind at any time through the Cookie settings link in the footer. Your choice is stored for 13 months; after that, or if the tools we use change, you will be asked again.

If you withdraw a category you had accepted, the page reloads and the tools in that category stop working at that very moment. What had already been sent before cannot be recalled, and any cookies already stored remain in your browser until they expire or you delete them; the next section explains how.
